Casey Rubber Stamps
Casey Rubber Stamps was not originally on The List, but was added after I passed the store walking home one afternoon. What stood out about Casey Rubber Stamps is that it is a hole-in-the wall craft shop that exclusively sells ink-based stamps. The distinguishing feature of the shop is that they customize stamps and can have them ready in up to 1-2 business days. Only in New York can you find a one-man-operated store that can customize a product without using the internet!
The shop has been around since the 80′s and is owned by John Casey, 
who discovered the world of stamps as a child, when he began his now extensive stamp collection. J.C Casey began producing stamps in the early 2000′s, when he started taking orders from his East Village patrons, many of them artists. Casey was able to streamline the process of creating stamps by investing in his own machine to mold the stamps wood backings and cut turnaround time significantly.
All of the stamps in the shop are handmade from real red rubber, not plastic, and there are more than a thousand images to design your stationery. The bulk of Casey’s stamp collection is done for local entrepreneurs, graphic designers and fashion industry folks. Wedding-related items and stamps for children are also common.
Several shelves of previous projects are on display, but customized, one-off projects keep the place buzzing. Whether you are looking for something artistic, like hummingbirds or flowers, or something professional, like a business stamp, Casey can create it all.
The design process is simple: you can either create the image for your stamp by submitting a design, or have Casey Rubber Stamps create the image for you. If you are trying to create an image from the internet, it needs to be high resolution so the pixels don’t show.
