Apple Store at Grand Central

On October 11, 2012 by Lauren Biegler

Nothing says “old meets new” like the Mac Store in Grand Central.

The Mac store in Grand Central is a remarkable statement about our generation and the massive success of Apple’s brand. Within 10 years of opening their retail store division, The Apple Store has made it’s way to one of the most beloved landmarks in the world. It is astonishing that a building as historic and revered as Grand Central is now offering the most modern technology available on the market…and it’s convenient too! The Grand Central Apple Store services thousands of commuters daily, 700,000 to be exact, who have long periods of waiting and need to stay connected.

As if the location alone wasn’t a big enough achievement, the Apple store is the biggest store in all of Grand Central as well as Apple’s largest retail space in the world. The store opened December 8th, 2011 at 10AM and greeted fans in red holiday shirts who had been lined up at 5:00 in the morning.

The store overlooks and wraps the main concourse of New York’s timeless commuter station, serving as an unparalleled backdrop for the Apple experience. The entire store is marble with spectacular antique chandeliers dangling over the Genius Bar. I am obviously an Apple fangirl…but I do think the magnitude of this store could be appreciated by anyone.

The store opened May 19th, 2006 and was the second retail store in the City.  This first retail store was opened in the Meat Packing District in 2002, the second on 5th Ave….and now there is a third location at the iconic Grand Central.  […]
