The Water Club

On September 9, 2012 by Lauren Biegler

Every time I take a cab down the FDR on the East Side, I pass a boat-restaurant and think “I wonder what that restaurant is, I would love to try it.” So finally, I figured it out…and made my way over to The Water Club.

The Water Club is beautiful. Located on the East River between 28th and 32nd street, the Water Club is a boat with  sweeping views of the water and the skyline. The restaurant was opened in 1982 and serves classic American cuisine. The Water Club is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, lunch Tuesday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday. If you are interested in trying The Water Club, but are thrown off by the prices, the brunch is very moderate and would be a great way to try the rooftop. The rooftop, “The Crow’s Nest,” is seasonal and sits atop the main dining room, serving refreshing drinks from mid-May through late September.

The Water Club’s food was amazing. We tried: Colorado Lamb Chops, Tuna and Streak. The chops were to-die-for. I left happy, happy. I would recommend this restaurant as a great place to take parents who want to treat :), or a date spot. It is a very common wedding reception venue, and has seen numerous proposals. It reminded me of the boat dinner from The Parent Trap. Very charming!
