Brooklyn Bowl

Brooklyn Bowl is a great venue, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It is a 16 lane bowling ally, as well as a live concert arena w/ 4 shows a week. While this is awesome, it makes it really difficult to get a lane, because the Brooklyn Bowl fills up quickly…and early. Unfortunately for me, I learned this the hard way. The first time we tried to bowl we got there around 7PM and paid a $15 cover charge to find out that there was not only a band, but it was also league night, so there were zero lanes available. We also found out that you can not make individual lane reservations, so if you want to get a lane you have to stay and wait, or get there as the doors open. We were able to get our money back, but no luck with bowling.

I went back last Thursday with a few friends and we were able to get a lane, but we had to get there at 5:50PM, so we were sure to get a lane before 6:00.  We bowled two rounds, had a few pitchers of beer and an appetizer each…which totaled: $240.00. Another downside of the Brooklyn Bowl … expensive! Bowling cost $20 per every half hours, which adds up quick.

SO, to give a review, I would say the venue is great and I understand the hype…but I found it irritating that we had to try multiple times to get a lane, and then time it perfectly in order to bowl for an hour and a half. If I were looking to Bowl again, I would find a less popular location that simply has lanes and beers. I would recommend the Brooklyn Bowl as an awesome venue for any type of party or event that would enable you to rent out the lanes or as a bomb place to see a show.
